Braid for no stretch and thin diameter, fluorocarbon for low visibility and abrasion resistance, mono for forgiveness and a cheaper spool. Most people run braid with a fluorocarbon leader and are right to.
Spools run from 110 to 1,175 yards and 2 lb to 80 lb test. If you are topping off a reel, buy the small spool.
